The Society for Medical Decision Making's mission is to improve
health outcomes through the advancement of proactive systematic
approaches to clinical decision making and policy-formation
in health care by providing a scholarly forum that connects
and educates researchers, providers, policy-makers, and the
public.
We value interdisciplinary scholarship and a global perspective
on health care. Methodological excellence, both in breadth and
depth, is important to us. At the same time we value the inspiring,
energizing, respectful, collegial, and friendly learning environment
that the Society provides. By being connected to the health
care enterprise in diverse ways we hope to have a positive impact
on decision making in health care.
Our diverse membership includes trainees to senior researchers
as well as educators, clinicians, managers, and policy makers.
We are an international society with almost 25% of our members from outside of the U.S. Members come from a variety of backgrounds and academic disciplines
and from various countries. They work in hospitals, universities,
corporations, foundations, and government agencies across the
globe. Trainee members study in programs ranging from health
services and outcomes research to medical informatics, decision
science, public health, and health care administration; clinical
trainees come from residencies and fellowships in virtually
all medical disciplines. |
