We are pleased to announce the 2nd International conference on DIAGNOSTIC ERROR IN MEDICINE, to be held Oct 21-22, 2009 in Los Angeles, CA. This year's meeting will be held in association with the annual meeting of the Society of Medical Decision Making.
A joint session with SMDM will begin at 10:30 AM on Oct. 21, 2009 featuring Dr Jerome Kassirer. SMDM will adjourn at 11:45, and the Opening Session of DEM-2009 will commence at noon with keynote addresses from Dr Kassirer, Pat Croskerry, and Wolfgang Gaissmaier. We hope to build on last year's successful inauguration by continuing the discussion of diagnostic errors and building the constituency of advocates dedicated to addressing this key problem.
Diagnostic error comprises a notable and costly fraction of all medical errors and has resulted in devastating consequences for patients, families, and health care professionals."*
