The course "Modeling Approaches for HTA: a Practical Hands-on Workshop" is part of the International Health Technology Assessment & Decision Sciences (HTADS) Continuing Education Program developed by the Institute of Public Health. The third 3-day Modeling Workshop will take place from June 7-9, 2012, right before the SMDM European meeting in Oslo. This workshop combines theoretical concepts with practical hands-on exercises comprising various modeling techniques applied in Public Health and HTA. Real-world case examples from different acute and chronic diseases will be discussed. In this course, the participants will handle with uncertainty and variability, individual behavior and waiting lines and dynamic transmissions and herd immunity. Additionally, the certified course contains a modeling overview and taxonomy as well as models of microsimulation, discrete event simulation and infectious disease, and other modeling approaches.
